I was drawn to this layout because of the inventive way she journalled down the side of the photo and that wonderful, moody expressive photo!!! I love the doodles, the stitched down journaling tags and the stitching!!

Journaling = This is the moment that it hit me. There was something missing. My arms were a little lighter, yet my heart was heavier. I’ve been so used to having to keep an eye on 2 little ones at the same time. I’ve been so used to pushing 2 on the swings. I’ve been so used to trying to get both of you in photos. And this is the moment that it hit me that I would no longer be able to witness your every waking moment. It was a big change when you were born with the constant care. Now that you’re older and don’t require my constant attention – that separation is a big change…it is a big change for me.

Elaina did this one - and I didn't get a credits email so I will get it from her, but here's her cutie Lily! I love the sandals - so cute!!!

She says, "My daughter took this photo of dh and I just before we went tout New Years Eve to a movie and dinner with friends. The journaling talks about Hayli being scared to climb down the tires at the park. She has cerebral palsy and it has effected the right side of her body. She doesn't use her right hand unless she is constantly reminded to do so, which you can see in the first picture. But with a little persuading she made the whole way down herself, using both hands!

Our lift of the week is by Gerada, Nevache on the digishoptalk boards.

I was drawn into the layout by the fabulous autumn colors and beautiful pictures of her dog. I was sad to read the subject matter of the layout - but it's really a great layout and I know we can have fun lifting it!

I really love the cardboard wrapped around by those beautiful ribbons and the wonderful colors. It is simple but conveys the feeling of the layout and the colors of the season it's portraying.

Wow - what fun - we had a lot of you ladies joining me for this one - the last lift of 2006!!

I had so much fun doing this layout - it's not my normal style, so it was hard to do all the rick racks and embellishments - but I love the way it came out!!! I have been wanting to use Shabby Princess's Winter XL kit, and these pictures and layout were perfect for it!!!

Our Lift #39 Really "sends" me...Updated!

Get it ... it's a postcard...sends me?? Hahahahaha!! Sorry, it's really late and I'm a bit punchy - but I have made a commitment to you all to get a new lift up every Sunday NO FAIL!!

When I saw this layout by Vanessa a few days ago, I put it in my favorites to comment on and never got back to it until tonight! EEEKS!! Well, I commented on the layout and realized that it was also going to be the scraplift this week. I really want to choose layouts that stretch me - that make me go out of my clean and simple comfort zone and do things I would not ever think of on my own.

The very first think I love about is that she used it like a real post card. Alot of the cards that I see are working with the front, or use it as a backdrop. This looks like it's being used and it's meant to be there. The doodles in the corners are so fun and the fun colors are perfect for this layout. The lattice in the picture looks like it was totally planned along with the layout! The tip topper for me was that fabulous stamp!!! I love the holly and berries sprig that embellishes it!!

I am figuring out my picture now and I can't wait to dig in and try this one. I hope you find this one fun and challenging as well!!!!

So, this week is really hard to get time to scrap...and the lifts show it. There was one so far who did this lift. If anyone more did - I didn't see it! :-( If you did - please post a link for me to get it up.

I loved this lift so much, but in doing it I realized just how intricate it is!!!

Here's Mine:

I used Taran Conyers Spring Doodles, Shabby Miss Jenn's bow, and Gina Cabrera's backgrounds. I wanted to make it like a post card but I just couldn't make it look as good as the original - so I kept the stamp idea, and made a calendar page with it!!!!

jennieb75 has done a really cute layout! I love this!! I really like the way she took the theme of the layout and went with it!! That's what scraplifting is all about - doing what it inspires you to do - whether it's a full on exact lift or the feeling the layout gives you!!!!!

Here's what she says about her layout: I've been checking out a few other member's letters and thought it would be fun to try it!! Had to give it a spin with the postcard style! lol

It's Lift Number 38 Already!!! UPDATED

This layout by Kerry (Rocalisa) is just the CUUUUTEST!!!! It's a sketch plate by Anita Stergiou, and the subject matter just really made this layout shine extra bright for me. I love cute little stories about what our kidlets are doing. I think what attracted me most to this layout is that it is very simple, but yet it has a lot going on! If you look closely - she has fun little things happening with the title with chipboard and regular fots, the picture that totally tells a story without even having to read the journaling - and journaling that satisfies your curiousity when you read it!! The flowers are adorable and I like the way she laytered the papers and left the kraft paper like a mat in a framed piece of art!

Great job Kerry!!!

Leigh came to visit today and let you play with her car keys. After a little while I went to see what you were doing and this is what I found. You took your stool from the laundry to the front door, climbed up on it so that you were tall enough to reach the locks and tried using Leigh's keys on the door. I'm not sure if you thought you were locking or unlocking it, but you were very involved in what you were doing. I'm now very careful to make sure you can't get out that door any time as I don't want you to get onto the street. A little Houdini is something I really don't need.

My daughter would have done exactly the same thing, and I would have felt the same way Karen did about getting up all night long to blow her nose!! LOL!! The alpha is wonderful and the photo, as always, is perfect!!!!
Journaling = You got a sick last Friday and that’s when you began waking us up several times during the night; one reason was because you wanted to blow your nose. So we decided to let you have a Kleenex box with you when you slept and we told you that you could just dump it on the floor after you are done because we didn’t want to we woken up just to retrieve a snotty tissue and we know that foreign things with you while you sleep easily bother you. We had no idea that there would be a mountain of tissues like this greeting us!

I was surfing the DST gallery for two hours trying to find a lift for today. It's amazing - there are SOOOO MANY wonderful layouts that I have been having an increasingly harder and harder time finding a layout that I find catches my eye! The amount of talent out there in the gallery world is simply amazing!!!

So what made me pick this one over all the other divine layouts I saw? Here are some reasons why I think this layout is so wonderful and why I think it should be lifted:

1. The pictures have a sweet luminescence to them - they just glow
2. I love the font work
3. The tasteful use of doodles
4. The rounded corners on the outside edges only
5. That ADORABLE dinosaur cartoon!!!
6. the star background that gives visual interest and texture but doesn't take it over!
7. Ok, this one's very subjective, but when I was growing up all I wanted to be was an archaeologist, so the subject matter captured my heart! LOL!!

Will you dig for buried treasure with me and lift this wonderful layout this week and let me share it next week? I can't wait to see what everyone does for this very versatile layout!!!

How totally sweet are these pictures??? I was instantly drawn to this layout by Sunshine06. The main photo is so engaging and the sweet Christmas colors and the diagonal stripes give such fun bold color!!!

Journaling = This children’s Bible is one of your favorite books. Because of that, you tend to refer to books as “Bible"

I just LOVE LOVE LOVE this layout of Angela's!! I saw it's thumbnail in the gallery and I had to see what it was all about. The picture makes it tremendous, but just the sweet little journaling and the angled torn papers turn this from a good layout to a great one!! I especially like the doodle swirls that look like it could be ribbons or it could be a doodle and the little flowers and the ribbon! I am going to have a lot of fun doing this one and I hope you join me!

This is a layout for my sister in law Ann Marie. She has three boys and she has had a really rough life. I just wanted to let her know how much she's loved and admired for her strength in raising her boys in such a tumultuous life...

I have to admit I had a little tear in my eye when I saw her little baby boy sick! She did a great job making the layout just great!! I love how she framed the picture area with a big messy stitched frame! The colors are bold and fun and journaling so touching! Great layout on such a hard subject!

Credits: Journaling reads: Poor little dude! You have been so sick since you started going to daycare. It makes me feel awful, but you love going anyway! Pink eye was particularly bad because you couldn't open your eyes in the morning and really got scared.

This one made me smile when I saw it - I think that picture is just in my top 10 delightful pictures of Moms and babies!

The colors are so bright and bold and I love the stitching! It really makes the layout so textural. I think I love most the tiny touches that she put in - the tiny "BLESSED" circle, the tab, the hat pin, the eyelets!!

Journaling: I sound so much like a mom when I say this....It sounds so cliché, but it’s oh-so true. Time goes by too fast and you notice it at the most ordinary,unexpected little moments. I watched you walk out of the room the other night and it hit me that you’re not a little boy anymore. It’s not just that you’re taller , it’s how you carry yourself...how you handle yourself when you’re around other people. You’re a confident, respectful and responsible boy. I’m glad you still have a few years of childhood ahead of you, and I’m proud of the adult that I’m beginning to see glimpses of!

I was drawn to Kim's layout because of it's clean lines and absolutely stunning picture. She combined it with heartfelt journaling and sparse but effective papers. I find it distinctive that she didn't use a plain white background to create negative space - instead she used a slightly textured and colored paper.

Next up is Sharon's Tri-Athelete Layout. She always has just the right touch to make the layout shine - like the idea of putting a white stroke around the papers - to mimic the photo edges!! Great job Sharon - and I really love your repetition of TRI!!! :-) Sharon says this: I am a big fan of Kim’s (tnkbuzan) … we met on a photography site, and I tempted her over to the dark side of digital scrapping, lol, and she is sooooo good. I love this layout because it has clean classic lines, great for the boys or men in your life. Great page, Kim! And thanks for the challenge, Susan!

This one is from Rachel, and I have to say it really made me choke up to read her journaling. I cannot IMAGINE having to be apart from my hubby as much as it sounds like she has to. I really adore her paper choices and the picture is just so full of fun and love!! She says, "I'm so thankful that my husband has come home to see us so often while he's been working out of town!

Finally - one of my all time favorite layouts of Karen's! Her journaling is so sweet and so true and that picture is just the cutest!!! Karen says, "My youngest daughter just climbing a chair in the hotel during our past short vacation. Nothing too dangerous, but I’ve been wanting to journal a little about the mixed signals I’m sending my laughing and taking pictures one moment and then the next I’m scolding lol.

Journaling = Being your mother, everything you do is cute and I always want to take a picture of it. And after I think I’ve gotten at least one good photo, I lightly scold you and get you out from whatever mess you were in. When I tell you to “look at mommy” while I’m snapping away on the camera, you must think you’ve really done something to be proud of and then in the next instance I’m whisking you off whatever obstacle you’ve managed to climb. Well…I guess some sacrifices will have to be made for the sake of preserving the moment.

Scraplift #34 is the Fabulous Kay Miller & Mary Fran!!! UPDATED

I was groggily surfing the galleries this past week and my eye perked up when I saw this adorable little snowman...and then it hit me: CHRISTMAS SEASON IS REALLY HERE!!!! I absolutely adore this time of year, so when I saw this, I got so very happy. Then I read further on and it's one of my favorite designers - kay Miller who did the layout. The topper was when I found out who designed this kit: Mary Fran!!! I really adore her layouts and I was so freaking excited to see that she was designing kits now.

Anyways, back to this layout. I love that Kay used 3 pictures and I loved the way she turned them sepia and made them white on the edges. Then those super sweet papers and elements!! I really love the placement of everything and the soft muted tones of this layout. I am not good at soft and muted - so we'll see how I lift this one!!

This is what Kay says about her layout: Oh I do love how this layout turned out! But how could you possibly go wrong with a cute kit like this!! This kit is SO me!! I love everything about it!! Anyway these are some picture I took of Kaylea last year in the little bit of snow we had. I turned them semi sepia to better match those cute little snow guys!!!

The next Scraplift is KeelyB!! I've had this in my favorites for a few weeks and I just kept coming back to it and loving it more and more. So, when I looked in my favorites again this morning, I made my decision - this is the lift for the week!!!

I absolutely LOVE the pictures and how she used the photo actions on them (I just purchased them last week and they're WONDERFUL. You can get them at Purty Pics - POP under Holly McCaig)

I'm LOVING chipboard letters and stamping, so that also brought my eye to this one. I love the colorful stitching and the awesome cupccake lettering and the sweet little touch of using a popsicle stick!!!

Baby Mine

I have to say I was really disappointed that no one did this lift. I thought it was a tremendous layout and I applaud Carole, Amy and Wendy for it's greatness!!! I loved it so much that I did two - and here they are. If someone else DID do this layout lift, I'd love for you to email it to me so that I can add it to my two...YAHOO _- Rona did one and it's SOOOOO worth the wait!! Scroll down...

My first scraplift was done with Lucy Marino's Alyssa's Dream Catcher Kit, which is available at digiscrapshak.com I really liked the colors of this kit and felt it really tied the pictures together so well!! I also especially like the fabulous stitches that comes with the kit and the rich colors and elements! Go check it out!!

My second lift was done by me again, and it was done with Carrie Stephens Truly Delightful, available at fishscraps.com and I used Taran Conyers FABULOUS TK Doodle font! I am totally in love with lavendars and purples, so this kit was perfect to tie my love of those colors with the loves of my life!

I was SOOOOO blown away with this lift. I don't know if it's the fact that it's Lightning McQueen, the colors she used or the way she duplicated and flipped the lift - but I have to say this one is award winning in my book!!! Here's Rona's Credits: Journaling reads:

When I saw this layout in the gallery, I knew this had to be the next scraplift. I think Gina accomplished something that I really want to perfect: the layout that is clean and designerly with a touch of graphic, yet uses tasteful embellishments! I was immediately drawn to the FABULOUS flower and then I noticed the little notches and how the journaling followed those notches!! Everything about this layout is appealing! I was going through my favorites and was very much inspired by 1967Jodie’s lo New Joke.
This photo of my dd Rosa was taken on our vacation in Italy and I love the very serious look on her face, where you can almost see right into her soul.

Journaling = My darling 19 month old, you are so grown already. One of the sad things is that I don’t have loads of laughing photos of you because usually I’m the one making you laugh and by the time I whip out my bulky camera the moment is gone and it’s back to “doh” photos. The awesome thing about vacations is that your father is with us 24/7 and I always have my camera around. Sweetness, you make our heart leap and our eyes tear everytime we see that smile of yours and hear your laugh. We could never have too many photos of you smiling and laughing.

Scraplift 27 Is Squeaky Cute!!! UPDATED

I found this layout of Lauren (username is ljbarden at DST) a while ago and I always meant to do a scraplift of it but I couldn't find it again to do it. Today I was scouring the gallery at digishoptalk.com looking for scraplifts that I somehow missed from other lifts, and I FOUND IT!!

One of my goals this year was to become a more clean, graphic scrapper, and what I have found is that there is a lot of artsy in me that I didn't know was there - so I have to fight with my artsy and collage past to keep my layouts clean. I think that this layout will satisfy my need for some of my more artsy side without sacrificing my goal to be more clean and graphic.

So, let's get to it:

What makes this layout scraplift worthy to me? Well, let me count the ways:
1. I really like the soft colors
2. I like the clean graphic style
3. I love the angle of the picture
4. The picture is not what you expect - both in the subject and in the orientation of it.
5. She tied the orangey-yellow of Rubber Duckie with the ribbon behind it
6. Her font is a nice clean sarif font with lots of leading space - no crowded or hard to read journaling.

I could go on, but I'm going to let you decide what works for you in this layout and lift to your hearts content!

Fresh From the Islands - Scraplift #26 Updated

This next scraplift serves two purposes: as the next scraplift on the blog and a showcase of a friend's kit I am so very proud of her for making!! Michelle is an AWESOME scrapper (username islandmom on SBB) and I just love her layouts that she creates.

I ADORE this layout and I can't WAIT to scraplift it. I love the clean, crisp lines, the way she used the white space to just frame those wonderful pictures and elements...I know that once you pick out the pictures - you will adore this layout too! I have just the pictures and kit in mind!!!

The second reason I wanted to showcase this layout is because of the artist who designed the kit that Michelle used: Shabby Miss Jenn. She has been my friend for a few years and my scrap mentor, inspiration and number one cheerleader. When she told me she was thinking of designing kits and offering a freebie - I said, "GO FOR IT!!" and she did! It's a wonderful kit and I hope that everyone that wanted to get it was able to get it while it was offered on her blog!

This lift is a little different in another way too. I would like us to lift Michelle's awesome layout - and I'd also like you to submit any layouts that you made with Shabby Miss Jenn's Shabbylicious Fall kit as well. The lifts will be posted as an update to this one, and then the layouts made with Jenn's kit will be in another post.

So gals - let's get scrapping!!! I can't WAIT to see what you all do with this one!!!!! :-)

Here are the layouts for Michelle's Lift: I used Gina Cabrera's Harvest Memories Kit for the pumpkin and her new Book Worm Essential Mega Kit for my lift of Michelle's awesome layout. I was so excited to see these pictures when I was cleaning off my hard drive to organize everything! I colorized the pumpkin, but other than that - I kept the colors and elements intact.

This layout is by Rachel - and what a cutie she has here! I love the large photo and the choice of kits - fits perfectly with a boy toddler!!! Rachel says, "My little guy. For some reason I get more photos of him right now than my very active, never sits still 3 year old! ...and OH My God!! This lady has some SERIOUS talent here!! I was browsing the digishoptalk's forums and I came across a thread talking about Sal...and I just had to click on the link. I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY with her sense of color, artistic capabilities and the knack for the perfect picture combined with the perfect papers and kit. I did not see one layout that wasn't great!! I don't think that I have ever seen any of her layouts. Makes me even more determined to dig deep into people's layout galleries even MORE!!

So, it was really hard to pick one, but I knew she HAD to be the next scraplift. She will challenge me to release my doodle - artsy side that is itching to get out but I don't know how to let her out!! I have chosen her "Stillness" layout.

I got a few emails of people who said that this layout was so perfect that they didn't think they could do it justice...so I applaud Buge, who did send in her lift! I thought it was really intricate myself and feel that I did it justice, but it's in no way as artistic as Sal did. I KNOW others of you HAD to have tried to lift this - if you did - PLEASE share it!!! I'll put them right up!!

All I can say is Sal, you're one of a kind and it looks like people can't replicate what you do!! What a compliment!!!

Scraplift #24 Is Updated with Layouts!

Get it, tearing me up? The picture is in three pieces?? Ah, never mind - bad attempt at humor!

Anyways... I was browsing the gallery at Scrapbook Bytes and I saw this GORGEOUS layout. I was immediately drawn in by the tiled photo and then those tiny little heart accents. I had to know what the font was she used and who did such a great layout. I found out after reading it that it was Agnes (Chibikko) who did this wonderful layout. Then I found out that it was a scraplift of Gina Cabrera's Happy Birthday layout for Auntie Pea!! I guess I"m nothing if not consistent - I love Gina's work and I'm honored to be on her Guest Design Team for the next 2 months... :-)

Tthis layout just resonates with me. I know it has to do with its simplicity, with it's clean lines, but I think more than anything else - it's just totally different!!! It stands out in a crowd. Thank you Gina and Agnes, for challenging me, yet again, to be a more versatile scrapper - and I can't WAIT to try this tiling technique!!

This is such a clever take on this layout: Amy says, "I am so glad I found your site. It is just the inspiration I need for quick summer pages.

I loved the original layout here and just had to lift it and do the fun photo trick. I immediately thought of myself and how I often feel like I am in pieces going different directions but I NEVER scrap myself so this was hard for me. I almost didn't finish. But I am glad I did.

I was browsing the galleries at at Digishoptalk.com, trying to find a layout that wowed me - and this one just made my clean and simple radar go crazy. I LOVE this layout, the color choices, the picture ... everything!! Someone made a comment on this layout that said, "Cathy Z. would LOVE this one..." or something to that effect, and I totally agree. My favorite book right now is Cathy Z.'s Clean and Simple Scrapbooking - so that made me feel even happier to choose it!

Then, I had to go on a search to find Crazygirl's name - cuz it's NOWHERE on her layouts or comments - so, if my research is wrong - sorry!! I would LOVE to know her real name. I THINK her name is Jacque! If anyone knows for sure, please let me know!

This one is my entry. I was so happy with the layout that she did that I did very few alterations to it. I'm weird and I just can't do unjustified journaling blocks - so I did that and switched the placement!

It’s been over a year since you passed away

characters are feeling the similar feelings I felt. I
still feel them. You were undeniably my best friend
and my main support person. You were and still
very much are my mommy. I find myself raising
Brooklynn and trying to duplicate your ways. I try to
hear your voice telling me to count to 10 and to not
get so worked up. Why don’t I scrap you more?
I have so many questions. After Uncle Bill committed
suicide, which I haven’t scrapped about either, I’ve felt
like life is so unplanned and unexpected no matter how
hard you try to control it. I don’t want to let your
memory go, but I still can’t bring myself to scrap
about this whole issue. I can scrap about your life, and
mine, and Maddies, and now Brooklynn’s, but the death
of you is something I feel like I’m not ready to face.
No matter how long it’s been, I’ll never really believe
it. I still question my ability to move on. You must
be with me, because you know I get scared about
life, but yet I’m still moving forward. I am also
mourning the fact that Brooklynn will never know
the real you, the you in person. She’ll only know you

Journaling-Even with two front teeth missing, you are still one extremely charming little girl. Now you are talking with a lisp so every time you say the “s” sound, it comes out as “th” sound instead. This is the cuuutest thing in the world. Not only are you cute but you are so darling. Your personality is continually changing and you are just evolving into a charming little being. A sweet little cute funny spontaneous princess.

So, I loved this one so much I did it twice! LOL! I think this layout is so perfect that I really didn't do much to change it - can't improve too much on perfection!!!

I used various pieces from Gina Cabrera to make my scrap lift:
-Mono Pack Essentials for the purple papers - used hue and saturation to get it to match Melissa's bathing suit.
-Twist of Lime for the Staple
- for the stamped Alpha
- Adore kit for the teal colored paper. I used curves and the selection tool to make the darker teal out of the teal paper too.
-Sweet and Spicy Kit for the purple paper. It was originally olive green and I changed it to match the bathing suit colors.

I loved it so much here's my second lift: I made Pesto Pasta for dinner one night and Mike and I both hated it, but Melissa loved it!! I think she liked playing with it more than anything else tho...

I used Gina Cabrera's New Slice of Summer Paper Pack, Office Essentials Kraft Paper Pack, Office Essentials stamps, Office Essentials Labels, and twist of lime staple.

Sunkissed Summer
Scraplift #21 is by Susan, user name Memories at Scrapbook bytes. I have just been introduced to her work as I was browsing the Gina Cabrera digital layout gallery over at SBB.

What do I like about this layout? First of all, the perfect choice of warm summery colors that complement the picture perfectly. I love the clean, simple layout and wonderful journaling . The title is fun and the font choice perfect.

Susan has a great eye for clean, simple and beautiful layouts - something I am aspiring to be!!

This is my take on Susan's page. I decided that it was so perfect that I lifted it as precisely as I could and then changed the wording and embellishment that I used.

I used Gina Cabrera's Lucky Star Kit and recolored the papers to match the orange in Melissa's shirt more perfectly, Snippet Collection, Felt Flowers, and stitches from Delightful.

This one is from Shabby Miss Jenn: Loooooove these papers sooo much! I wish they were fabric! LOL I used Anna Sophia Paper Pack. "C" made from Shabby Princess Serenity Alpha, Tag from Diry Boy, gellin dot from Sweet Sprinkles and stitching is from Shabby Shoppe Stitching pack.

Yeah, yeah, I know. I've been abysmal at keeping up with this lately. I'll let you all in on my dirty sad secret - I was completely and utterly dry of creativity. I was even trying to do scrap lifts and they weren't even coming out right. Then my camera died so no new pictures, and my laptop hard drive got full but couldn't burn a CD to get more room.

I still feel a little stifled in the way of creativity, but I did scrap a layout and I'm happy with it. I asked Shabby Miss Jenn to help me pick one and this is the one we went with:

I have had a few PMs and emails asking me where I was and if everything was okay, so I figured I'd better get my butt over here and get something up here for ya'll.

Thank you so much for your care and concern - I am okay - just overwhelmed with life lately and haven't had much time for scrapping. My daughter is potty training right now and with cleaning up accidents, taking her to the potty every hour and washing pee out of stuff - I have little time for anything else fun! Those of you who have potty trained a stubborn little girl know what I'm talking about.

Anyways, I will update the blog with the few layouts I have from the last lift, then I am going to post one of MY pages for the 20th scraplift. A little egotistical? I hope not - but I wanted to see what takes other people would do with my stuff! LOL!

I have finally found the next Scraplift, and it's by Leora.

Here's what Leora says about her layout: Made this for Katja's challenge on the mssg. board. I used the new Flea Market Chic kit...LOVE IT!!! Since I didn't see a stamp that I wanted to use, I used the ppr to create a stamp with the magic wand tool. (the flowers at the bottom). Fonts: Century Gothic, 2peas flower girl and SP Purkage Journaling reads: growing up is a right of passage in this life. I understand that it's just something you have to do but it doesn't make it any easier for me to watch. I see you blossoming into a beautiful young lady and reality has set in. It makes me realize that I need to savor each moment. It happens all too quickly. I love you my dear Ashley.

I love the great picture and the way that she tied such sentimentality in the journaling with such funky elements and made the picture be black and white. It's funny - I never thought I had a style to look at - but I'm noticing that I'm learning more and more about me and my scrapping styles as we do these scraplifts. I hope that you are learning something as well.

I've learned:

1. That I can scraplift to within a 1/4 of an inch of getting the layout right and I'm a bulldog when it comes to using guides and measuring to make sure I have it right.

2. I like the more simple uncluttered layouts. In another life (tee hee) I used to feel like if I bought a kit I had to use ALL the elements and many of the papers that came with it and made a collage style layout. Now I feel that a few well placed elements or no background at all can make a gorgeous statement too.

3. I enjoy turning pictures to sepia and making chipboard letters.

4. I like good journaling

5. And last but not least, I'm a comment whore. I love to get comments on my layouts and when I don't get them, I get paranoid thinking I must have made a stinker layout. :-)

I made the alpha myself inspired totally by the original used in the lift by manda bean of Sweet Shoppe Design - but I wanted a different color and font so I made them myself.

This one is from Betty Jo: I created this LO for Susan's Scraplift #16 at her wonderful blog Digi-Scraplift Fun. The original layout, Three for Tea, was created by N. Wallace at 2 Peas. I didn't have any tea party photos so decided to go with this series instead. Recently I was snapping photos of my older granddaughter. I began to hear, "Click!" "Click!" near by. I turned to find my almost-two-year-old granddaughter mocking me with her tiny toy camera. Of course I then began shooting her. She was so cute shooting right back at me.

This layout is by Kerrin Quall, who used the Flip-flops range of embellishments. Journaling in the file folders.

I just saw this layout and was IMMEDIATELY drawn to the mix of black and white and color pictures and the use of a little bit of everything and having it not overwhelm the design or the pictures!!!

I know we can't do the journaling under the file folders unless we want to do an altered layout - but we can sure do the rest of it!!!!!

I think we can really challenge ourselves with this one!

I used Gina Cabrera for most of it - the ribbons, the background and cross stitches from her new Daydreams kit, I made the file folders with a brush and eraser from one of her backgrounds from the Shabby Shoppe, Dymo letters from Exuberant, beautiful tag from Wallflower Kit, letters and blessing tag from Forever Grateful. I used Ronna Penner's stitches from Essential Notions Stitches. I made the vellum flowers! :-) Font; MA Sexy

Boy what do I love about this layout...hummm. First of all - I'm DROOLING to buy that kit tomorrow at the Shabby Princess Grand Re-opening!! Secondly, I'm in love with the stitching. I also love the way she used a lot of pictures but it doesn't look in the least bit crowded. Finally - it's just an all around GREAT layout!!! I hope you all are as impressed as I am and will join me in honoring Rita's efforts!!!

I fell in LOVE with this kit when I saw it over at the Sweet Shoppe Designs Shop and I didn't have the money to buy it then. I went on my own merry way and as I was scouring the PeaNut Gallery for a new scraplift - lo and behold the one layout that just SCREAMED "Look at me" happened to be make with the same kit - Robin Carlton and Manda Bean's Love-O-Saurus Kit!!! When I saw this layout in the gallery I just HAD to click on it and see why this ADORABLE little girl was nicknamed "Bear". Once I clicked on it and opened it up, I was in love - with both KaceyBear and this layout!!

I have been looking for a layout like this: colorful, heartfelt, using doodles and overlays, and I LOVE the frames on the pictures. I think this will be a fun scraplift to do!!

I think I'm attracted to layouts like this because I am starting to feel those REMEMBER THESE TIMES kinda feelings. My daughter is going to be 3 next month and she's growing so quickly I can barely keep up with her. I want to just freeze frame her so I don't forget how her little voice sounds - her quirky faces, her sweet touches...

So, when I saw Tara's layout I knew I had to do something like it. I have had it in my BOS for about two weeks, and now is the time to pull it out and do it. I think I MIGHT do it paper too - (I know - horrors - this is a digital blog.!!!!) yeah, I know and I'd do a digital page - but I think I want to try my hand at a paper one too!! :-) The ribbons will make it so fun!!!

I absolutely love the haphazardly laid papers, the ribbons, the picture - the writing on the picture!! Wahoo!! We have scraplift #11!!!! Thank you Tara, for a great layout!!!

This is a fun one from Lidsay: The day after Christmas was in the 70's so Parker was very eager to go test out his new Tonka dumptruck. He thought he was sooo cool climbing all the way up the dirt pile in the empty field beside our house. He sat up there for about an hour stuffing dirt in it and rolling it down the hill. Everything from "My World" by Tabatha Reed of DigiScrappin.Biz. Used an action from Atomic Cupcake to do the wooden letter.

Trish sent me this wonderful layout for this scraplift: ere is my LO from the last scraplift called 6 Bibles. For this I used a mix of Mo Jackson's doodads and the foam stamp action from atomic cupcake for the "6."
Journaling reads: 6 bibles. The first items moved into our new home were each of our 6 personal bibles. Since we have discussed from the beginning of our building process that this is “God’s house,” Barry thought it would be good to invite Him and His Word into our house first. So, on the evening that we got possession of the house, each of us brought our bibles with us as we unlocked the front door and officially entered into OUR new home. We talked with the kids about how we want to seek God FIRST in our lives here and we prayed. Then each of us placed our bible in our bedroom. Now, the rest of the move could begin!

Hmmm, I think I've had four jobs! LMAO. Let's see, my first job was working at my parent's furniture business doing invoices. Then I worked at Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers every summer throughout High School and some of college, then when I graduated I still worked there. Finally I got out of fast food hell and worked at Jenny Craig Weight Loss Centres, which was like getting out of the frying pan into the fire. Ok, so Michelle just wowed me with this one. I clicked on a page in the digital gallery and blurred my eyes and waited for a layout to just pop off the page to me, and this was it!!

I clicked on it and knew why: First of all, the black and white picture just pulls you in as something "different". Then I saw all the word phrases and the angled papers and I was hooked!!!

This one will take doodles, photo manipulation, and THOUGHT for the journaling!! LOVE IT!!!

Scraplift #8 Is Here!! UPDATED

Thanks Ladies for your patience. I know you're used to me having a lift every day and getting those layouts up, but dangit if that sickness bug didn't rear it's ugleeeee head in our house again. Besides wanting to take a hatchet to my head and get rid of my sinuses, everything's getting back to normal slowly.

When I saw this late last night I knew it had to be the new Scrap lift. I have been avoiding the one thing that I am NOT good at - and when this layout popped up in the gallery, it took my breath away. Not only because of the beauty of it, but also because I knew I had to try to do this.

As far as I can tell, this will entail overlays, font work, photo manipulation and a great photo!!

What I love about this layout is that it's soft and dreamy, yet almost heritage in look. Have fun ladies - I can't wait to see what you guys come up with and I hope that I am up for the challenge!!! Good job Elaina!!!

Oh my gosh - this one was SOOO hard for me. I was totally intimidated by it - the overlays - brushes, opacities...but I finally just clamped down and did it and I am so happy with it. Credits: I used jen Wilson's background and tag and everything else is mine. I used brushes to create the edging and ghosted lettering in the background. I also used Ronna Penner's Sweetheart Script font for the song lyrics, which is "Memories" by Elvis Presley.

This one is from Donna. I absolutely LOVE the picture of her son and how she did the overlay. I'm in awe of people who can do overlays!! Credits: The background is from Sue Jones' Christmas Past Mini Kit, and the font is LD Fierro from Lettering Delights. I made the overlay.

This is Shabby Miss Jenn's entry. I love the fact that she can do inspirations - take the lift and go where it takes her!! I just LOVE her use of chipboard letters and of course the lovely MIss Chayce!!

Whew!!! You guys have been working HARD!! I am so happy to see so many of you scrapping along with me!!! Remember you can keep doing any of the layouts you want - I will be uploading constantly - so there's no deadline to any scrap!!

I was cruising the gallery and saw this one and I just about gasped. The colors and the picture just drew me in like a magnet. This is a paper scrap - so we have a little bit of a challenge here: the dimensional aspects, the textures and the inked edges. I think we're up for this girls - let's go!!!! :-)

This one is my entry. Oh boy was this tough for me. I actually took two days to make this but I am proud of it. I think it works!!! I used Gina Cabrera's Twist of Lime Kit for nearly everything except the stitching, which is Ronna Penner and alphabet by Ronna in her Old World Charm Kit. I also used the tag from Gina's Adore Kit and Flowers from her Exhuberant Fun Kit.

I used Dani Mogstand's Vintage Valentine kit. The frame is from an edges pak at digital scrapbook place. Font is blackjack.
I really like Michelle's take on this - the buttons are wonderful and it looks to me like she reduced the backgrounds for the tiiles and they match so perfectly. Darn - another kit I think I have to buy!!!!

Paper is Gina Miller, Vintage Poppy and flowers are Gina's Beaded Flowers! - Tracy Fox. Tracy, you did it. You sold me on this kit. I was wavering and thought I didn't need to spend any more money, but then I saw this layout. It must be mine!!!! I love the picture choice and the way the papers are so bold yet they don't take over the wonderful picture.

Kim's Love Much Kit at CG Essentials - Becky's take on this layout just really makes me smile!! The picture is perfect - and the playfulness of the kit makes it even more joyful! I reall like the flowers she chose and the hearts on the tiles.

This one is from "Scrapper" over at SBB. I am sorry I don't know her name - but boy is this beautiful!!! All of the papers and te alpha used are from Doris Castle's Naturally Sweet kit. I inked the edges using an Atomic Cupcake action. The ribbon with the heart is from Doris' Earthen Florals kit and the flowers and the little tag are from her Memories kit. SL #6 - A Really "Sweet" Layout! (Updated)

Keep those layouts coming ladies. I am having a BALL seeing what you guys are coming up with and I look forward to "You've got Mail" in my inbox. Hey, wasn't that a great movie?? I love the Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan movies. Just up my alley. Anyways - I am still collecting layouts and later on tonight I'll update with the layouts I have. Since I missed yesterday and I know Sarah's going crazy waiting for another one, I thought I'd better get the new one up! Tee Hee!

I also wanted to thank you all for the kind words in your emails. YOU inspire me so much!! Everytime I see a layout or a posting about this blog, I feel so happy and humbled that you are choosing to do this with me. So THANK YOU!!

When I saw this layout - I knew it had to be one of the scraplifts! I love that she used just one background paper and put all her embellishments around her picture in the middle. It really creates visual interest and pulls you in to the picture. This whole layout is so real that I had to look really carefully to make sure it was all digital!!! I never think to use dots as lines and little paper strips - I did one layout but it didn't really work like this one does - I have a lot of practice to do to get those right!!

Ooo Tonya - how beautiful!! I created the green background paper, and the alpha. I re-colored the thick stitching strips and the photo corners - outside stitching and stitching on the photo mat are also Taran's from her Summer CD as a bonus. I just LOVE This!! I especially love how she added the bunny and the blocks to make this such a little baby layout - but the colors are sophisticated!!

Hold on to your hat girls - but one of our very own is ScrapLift #5!!! I was surfing the gallery clicking on pages that drew my attention to them and not looking at the name purposely. I was drawn in by the extreme close up and the half crop of the picture. I HAD to know what this layout was saying!! I love the very thin black band around the picture and the paper choices. I have that kit but have never found the picture to use it! Her minimal journaling was perfect - you did not have to say ONE MORE WORD to know what this layout was saying!! Brava Sweet Sarah - you are the next Scrap Lift for us...Scraplift #5!!! I call it "No Matter What". Donna used her "Precious Metals New Year" kit (I made a couple "extra" elements for this layout), and the font is LD Glorious by Lettering Delights. I was browsing around the threads at 2 peas and I saw a comment by Chef Susan and I just thought her Sweetie was the CUTEST with it's little Chef hat - so I thought, "What the heck - let's see her gallery!!!!" I clicked on it and the first layout I saw was this one:

Susan used Daisy D's & Chatterbox PP, Bazzill, Nostalgiques clip, Autumn Leaves stencil, MM Brad and Ranger Distress Ink. Yes, you read it right - this is a PAPER layout!! I know, I know - WHAT???? How am I supposed to SL a paper layout? I thought that when I first started getting "Creating Keepsakes" magazine - but I found SL-ing paper uses the same talent! You do it the same way you do any other one - you look at it - decide what of it inspires you and you do it!! :-) I've already finished mine, so I will post mine here along with Chef's and you guys just send me yours when you're done. Remember - this is not a high pressure thing - you do which ones you like and send 'em to me and I post them - simple as that!! :-)

Here's my take on Susan's LO.I really loved the idea of using a bold paper - but I just never seem to find the right one or I feel it's way too overpowering for the layout - but I hope this one worked! I have never sepia toned a picture before - so that was a challenge for me. I finally wound up doing it in Photoshop on my own after trying to find an action that I liked for Photoshop!! LOL! I am doing a Book of Me challenge - and this is the dedication page. Figured I'd combine two birds with one layout! :-)

This is one of my favorite color combinations - so it really jumped out at me.

OH what a soft beautiful pageby Julie this is - The kit is Traci Sims' My Sunshine, and the font is Scriptina."Avah & Aliyiah" I am a sucker for soft blues every time!!!!! Great picture too!

This one is by Brianna, and it's entitled "Recovery". Credits: Kit is Atomic Cupcake "Deliriously Yours" I did the tears with an unfinished soon to be done action. I was really moved with this layout - what a relief to know that someone you love so much is on the road to recovery - and the colors she chose were PERFECT for the picture!!

I'm so excited that many of you decided to take this journey with me! I love seeing your layouts come into my mailbox. I'm waiting another day or so to pick up any remaining layouts and I'll post them into that blog entry all together so we can see what each other has done and maybe learn a trick or two!!

Each SL will have it's own blog entry - so when you come back to see yours posted, scroll down until you find the LO you lifted and your layouts will be posted within that blog entry. That way we can keep a little bit of order in our world!

SL #2 comes from Lisa at 2 peas. This layout is an entry she made for the Best and Brightest Contest 2006 and I was WOWWED by her entries - but this one caught my eye for more than a few reasons. She designed the kit she used, and it is called "Old World Charm". Get it here on 1.23.06 - and on that day it will be FREE!!!!!

Okay- on to why I think this layout is scrapworthy: I LOVE layouts that use more than one or two pictures - cuz I have an especially hard time pulling that off. I love the rich colors, the placement of the photos at an angle and disappearing underneath torn papers. I am really working on my journaling - so the large space for journaling is a dream come true for me! I enjoy the use of stickers and the Monogram of her name.

So...here we go!! Same rules - do a total pixel by pixel SL with papers and embellishments of your choice, or use it as an inspiration and a springboard for your own layout. I didn't post my layout because I liked it so much that I am going to use it for one of my Hall of Fame entries for Creating Keepsakes magazine. Yeah I know - it's a HUGE longshot - but if I never try - I'll never know!! If you want to see mine I'd be glad to email it to you and show you! :-)

The LO we scraplifted was by Tali B. from 2 Peas, and these are the credits: Softly Shabby kit from Traci Sims, mixed with Anna Aspnes' Time kit. Walnut overlay is from Jen Wilson. Font is artistamp.

Some of the things I like about this are: the stitching - the way it looks like real paper scrapping, the little tiny tag for her age, the three circles - the color choices. I am always in awe of people who can do so much with their pages. I haven't decided if I'm going to totally SL or just take her lead, but I am going to enjoy working with this one!! Here we go: The First one here is from Gina Miller. Credits:Papers: Kim Christensen's "Tattered Linens" at SBB. Stitches & digital poetry by Katie Pertiet. Little paper strips by Gina Cabrera. Deco Edge by me (Gina Miller). Fonts are Tweed, AL Uncle Charles and Susie's Hand. I absolutely LOVE the deco edge and the papers she chose. I have to find that digital poetry cuz I really love stuff like that. I am a sucker for journaling too - and I teared up reading it too!

This one is named "The Big Pink Bird" by Tracy Fox, and she used Amanda Lacey's Petalpalooza kit. I love the bold colors and the way she replicated the flower motif throughout the layout! I also like the stripes for the background!! Great Job Tracy!

This one is entitled "Lucky" and was made by Sarah. Again, I love the color choices for the papers. It has such a soft yet rich feel to it and I'm a sucker for chocolate brown polka dots - although I rarely choose them ... hmmm....Jen's flowers are amazing and I love the black and white pictures too. Brava Sarah!
Here we have "Christopher" by Roberta D'Achille. Credits: Photos - Ramona Vaughn Fonts - Rubber Stamp and RD SnowFlakes Page sets - Roberta's Aquamarine for twill, stamp, brad, staple, zig zag stitch Roberta's My Guy for straight stitch, whip stitch Remainder of the items including backgrounds, snowflakes, mats, and knit items from a pageset in progress - likely to be called Roberta's Frosted Aquamarine. I love the color choices here Roberta - so bold and beautiful!!! The little mittens are so cute and the beautiful snowflakes!!

This one is by Julie, and she called it "Personality". She took a different take and made it 8x10 and flipped the elements. I love the way she mixed her backgrounds and the name is just PERFECT for this layout!!!! The credits are as follows: I used Traci Sims (scrapbook-elements) Shabby Sunset kit; stitches are from Shabby Princess' Shabby Stitches and the fonts are Artist Stamp and Arial Black!

This entry is from Clare, a brand new digiscrapper!! Yay!!! She used the freebie sweet sprinkles kit from Shabby Princess and made the layout 12 x 12. I have to say that I sure do love just about anything Shabby Princess does - and this is no exception!! The kit is perfect for the pictures here and I say Clare did a bang up job on it! :-) Keep scrappin' Girl!

This rich gorgeous entry is by Alisha. Credits: Papers and Elements: Sue Jones's Amore Botanica at Digital scrapbook pages, Stitches: Kathy Smith's "In Stitches kit" also at Digitals. Oh my gosh - this layout is just so rich!! I Love the color choices for the papers and the circular journaling. I also like the effect of many photo turns!

I have been browsing 2 peas for about an hour and I finally found a LO that really struck my eye as something that I LOVE, and something that will take a bit of work to SL. It can be found with all it's Pea Praise here:

It's Scrap Lift Time!!!!!!!!

My New Year's Resolution is to become a better digi-scrapper tomorrow than I am today. To that aim - I am going to scraplift layouts that I think have that certain something - that spark that I want my layouts to have. I think scraplifting can help me to stretch my wings and do things I never could think of on my own and try out techniques that I have not tried before. I hope to use more brushes, more artistic doodles, the white space...you name it.

So, each day or so I will post a layout that I think is great and why - and then my scraplift of it. Maybe with some help from friends I can have a challenge or two for everyone and have you post them to me and I'll post them all together so we can see what eachother envisions. I would love it if as many of you as would like would join me in this journey!

I guess we should define what I mean by scrap-lifting. Scrap-lifting (henceforth for me known as SL) is seeing a layout that I love something about and trying to replicate it. To me, it doesn't have to be a pixel by pixel SL, nor does it need to use the same exact composition and layout - it's a springboard to a layout I like. For example - I SL'd this layout:

You would never know that it was a SL. I can't find the original right now, but it was dark brown background, a small picture of a daddy and little girl on the left bottom and a picture of a house on the right - with no journaling. If anyone recognizes this layout - please email me or comment here and I will properly credit the original poster of it. It was at scrapbook-bytes.com.

I was inspired by the big picture and the small picture and the arsty look about it...then I started to replicate the whole layout. I ended up with my Tree layout. I LOVE It - but it's not an exact copy.

There are times when I DO an exact copy of the layout and here's one of them. My Sweet and Shabby friend, Miss Jenn is a great source of inspiration for me.

I loved so much about this layout. The colors - the placement of the very large picture - the layers of ribbons and papers and most of all the journaling. I am so touched by journaling lately and it's been one of my goals to get better and better at journaling. I loved this one so much that I pretty much did a total SL with a different kit of papers. Seeing them in such close proximity - I did a darn good job with the dimensions too!! LOL!!

So there you have it - the beginning of a journey that I hope will lead us all to be better scrappers and have more fun and variety with our layouts!

I won't take anything down and you don't have to SL in order - or do it at all for that matter - but I do hope that my journey will help you along YOUR journey as well...

Okay...off to find the first layout of the year to scrap!!
